Other Ways to Help

Educate others. Tell your friends, family and neighbors about the stray dog problem. Be an advocate for spaying and neutering pets. Click here for articles about the strays of Detroit.

Remember - adopt, don’t shop. And if you’re not ready to adopt, consider fostering a dog. Because of the time involved in the adoption process and the high volume of dogs that we take off the streets in the city, the Detroit Pit Crew does not directly adopt dogs to the public. Please contact your local dog rescue to find a dog that suits your lifestyle and living situation. Whenever a dog is adopted or fostered, it opens a spot for another destitute dog in a safe environment so that they can begin the journey toward their forever home. At any given time, shelters and rescues have thousands of dogs waiting for a place.
